Email Assets

Use Assets to avoid creating the same content repeatedly, like your standard Email footer!

An Asset is, just as a Template, a piece of content saved to be used for future Email activities. While a Template refers to the entire Email, an Asset is one or several Rows, saved as an independent module.

In this article we will have a look at Regular Assets. The content of a regular Asset looks exactly the same every time you use it.

New Assets are created under the Asset tab at the Email tool start page. There is also the option to create an Asset form a created Email.

Apart from the Regular Asset, there are also:

  • Dynamic Assets: Created and designed as regular Assets, but contain placeholders that are replaced with the data contained in your own, external source (JSON, XML, RSS).

  • Product Recommendation (3rd party): This asset will allow you to easily integrate with some of the product recommendation provides available.

Let's have a look on how to create a Regular Asset!

Asset with Input

In Asset Settings, you also find "Asset Input". An Input can be used as a placeholder in a link.

What is Asset with Input?

Let's say you have an Asset where you want to display products. You have several Elements in the Asset (for example, Text, Image and Link element) that should all contain a link to a certain product. Instead of having to manually update the links in all the Elements every time you use the Asset, you can add an Input to the links. The Input works as a placeholder.

Every time you use the Asset, you will be asked for an ID, a value for the placeholder, in order to generate the content. When adding value for the Input (in this case, the product id), the links will replace the Input with the value and the Asset will display the content of the specific product in all Elements.

Let's have a look at how an Asset with Input is created and then, how to use it in an email.

Creating Asset with Input

1. When having created an Asset, go to Settings in the bottom bar. Create an Input, for example "productid".

2. Add Input to a link.

3. Add the Asset you created into the Canvas.

4. Mark the text or image you want to link. Go Link settings.

5. Add URL including the Input (##productid##), for example
https://heartland.se/?productid=##productid##

The ##productid## will be populated with a value (the specific product)

6. Add the Input to all the links you prefer in the different Elements of the Asset.

The specific product ID will then populate the links every time the Asset is used!

Using the Asset with Input

When using an Asset with input, you will be asked for an ID, a value for the placeholder. This value makes it possible to generate the content.

  1. In the Email editor go to Assets, in the top right corner of the Design panel.

  2. Drag and drop in the Asset with Input you have prepared, into the Canvas.

  3. Enter the value, in this example the product ID.

  4. Click Insert.

The product ID will populate the link and generate the content!
