About the Listen Node

The Listen Node will start Profiles in the flow. It can listen for any data stored on a Profile. When a Profile make a certain actions or meet specific conditions the Listen Node will bring the Profile into the flow.

Setting Up the Node

Click on the Listen Node to open it up and choose what action should trigger the flow. You can choose between Real Time Events or Daily Triggers.

Real Time Events

A Real time event is an action performed by a Profile like a click in an email or a website interaction. This type of data will make you able to act immediately when the action happens. Read more using events in a Flow.

Choose Between:

  • Response Data

  • Achievements

  • Forms & Pages Interactions

  • Website Interactions

  • Consent Timeline

Events in a Specific Activity

Activities selected will show in the Activity dropdown, and can be selected and deselected with a click.

If you only need to listen for a select number of activities, for example your last five Email activities, then manually selecting which activities to listen for is a quick way to increase the reach of your Marketing Automation Flow.

Events in Any Activity

You can also listen for Events in any Activity. This way, Profiles with a matching Event in any of the tool's activities will enter the Marketing Automation flow. Simply select Any from the Activity dropdown menu.

In example, to bring in Profiles that engaged in a specific link or CTA in any of your Email activities, choose to listen for an Email Click in any of the Activities.

The Listen node will then listen for Email - Click Event from any and all of your previous Email activities listed in the drop-down menu.

To narrow down the Profiles who enter, you can use the Match, Match Type, and Value to specify which link the Listen Node will listen for. Profiles that have clicked on this link regardless of which activity will now enter your Marketing Automation flow.

Scheduled Triggers

Use Attributes, Tags or Segments to trigger a flow once a day, week or month.

Everyday the Listen Node will run through all Profiles and check if anyone matches a certain value in an attribute, has a tag placed on them or fall into a specific segments depending on the settings and the scheduling you have chosen to listen for.

Advanced: Add a Segment Directly in the Listen Node

In some cases it can be useful to add yet another setting to the Listen Node. Open the Advanced option to add a segment directly in the Listen Node. This option is available when using Attributes, Tags or Events as a trigger.

This is particularly useful when testing the flow or in cases where even more advanced personalisation is needed - Read more about using this for testing your flow here.
