If you want to reuse a node's configuration, whether you're building a branching flow, testing a variation, or simply saving time, you can duplicate any node directly on the canvas.
How to duplicate a node
Hover over the node you want to duplicate
Click the ⋮ icon in the top right corner of the node
Select Duplicate
The duplicated node will appear on the canvas, disconnected from the flow and in Draft status, visible just under the original node on the canvas.
Drag the duplicate into position on the canvas
Connect it to the relevant node
Open the node and make any further changes needed
The node will activate once you activate the flow, or when you re-activate a paused flow
💡 Good to know: You can duplicate a node regardless of whether the original node (example email and SMS node) is in Draft or Active status. The copy will always start in Draft, so nothing goes live until you're ready.
When to use Duplicate
Reusing a configured node: If you've already set up an Email node with the right sender details and naming, duplicate it and update only what's needed. No need to start from scratch.
Building parallel branches: When your flow splits and both paths need a similar node - like a Time delay or an Update Profile action - duplicate the existing node and drop it into the second branch.
Testing a variation: Want to try a different version of a node alongside one that's already running? Duplicate it, make your change in the copy, and keep the original untouched.
Things to keep in mind
A duplicated node is always placed on the canvas disconnected. It will not be part of the flow until you connect it manually.
A duplicate always launches in Draft status, even if the original node is Active.
It is not possible to activate a flow that contains incomplete or disconnected nodes. See Navigate the Marketing Automation Canvas for more on incomplete nodes.
The Listen Node cannot be duplicated.
